“Shingon” a Buddhsit sect foundedx by Kukai, known as Kobodaishi in Japan in A.D. 807, means True Wrod and its teaching is a translation of the Sanskrit Mantra and the Sect is often called the Mantra Sect (Mantrayana). Shingon is spoken of as the sect of the Dharanis and the mystical Secret Teaching of all the Tathagathas.
